Despite the economic slowdown, the first national MPV Proton Exora has passess 11,000 unit mark. A great achievement given a current economic scenario.

If previousy Proton has unveiled the Proton Exora Prestige which were sold based on order to selected VIP, yesterday during “Proton Exora – The Making” seminar at Universiti Putra Malaysia, they showcase what they called Proton Exora Prestige Turbo Prototype.

Eventhough not much details were given on the spec, based on what reported by PaulTan, this prototype is powered by 1.6l turbocharged campro and pushes a 270hp and torgue at 350Nm.

The prototype was built in house and using aftermarket bolt on turbo. This prototype will remains as it is at least for many years ahead. For them to produce such a power machine with 270hp is not practical as this MPV was not built for speed.

What I heard, there are group of engineer currently seconded to Lotus, UK to develop the 1.6 campro turbocharged engine. The first car to be equipped with this engine is exora and persona. Who knows, later on we will have something like Persona R, Saga Type R or even Exora Type R.

The engine which currently under R&D is said to have power equivalent to of 2.0l engine which a horse power in the range of 150-170. The reason again, because they dont have bigger engine to be used for Segment A car. The cost of development of a new 2.0l engine will cost them a lot, and the best options is to turbo charged the existing engine.

Subaru has unveiled the 2009 Subaru Legacy Concept  at 2009 North American International Show, Detroit in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Legacy.  This concept car is expected to enter US market early next year.

Not much details given the car spec, but the engineers at Subaru has done nice and good job on this Legacy.

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles has recently  announced that it will give a world premiere to the LEGACY CONCEPT at the 2009 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, which will open its doors to the public from January 17 through 25, 2009 (press days on January 11 through 13).

Celebrating 20 years of the Legacy sedan, the LEGACY CONCEPT is a concept model to showcase the direction of future Legacy sedan design.

The exterior highlights the sportiness and dynamism befitting a car powered by 3.6-liter, low center of gravity Horizontally-Opposed engine. A distinctive front face and flared wheel arches speak to the presence of the car and the reliability promised by the symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. The interior embodies high definition with a feeling of comfort.

Subaru Legacy series was first introduced into the world in 1989 and next year it will celebrate its 20th anniversary of the start of production. Produced in Gunma, Japan and Lafayette, Indiana USA, Global production has exceeded 3.6 million units* and production in North America accounts for 43%. The model has been highly acclaimed as a core product of Subaru world-wide due to its excellent driving performance, strong safety record and the dependability provided by Subaru’s renowned Symmetrical AWD system with Horizontally-Opposed engine.
