I have been away for 10 days for Tokyo – Osaka holiday recently. In this post I would to share few photos of Black  Toyota Alphard Vellfire which I snapped somewhere in Jimbocho, Tokyo. Eventhough, not much details on the modification made but these photos worth a thousand words !

Toyota is the first car manufacturer to offer Hybrid car and today for the first time, the franchise holder UMW has officially launched it in Malaysia. Big thanks should be given to our government who are generously reduced the excise duty up to 50%. Otherwise this Prius can easily cost you more than RM220k.

The Prius is powered by a combination of a petrol engine and Ni-MH battery/motor powertrain, working a CVT transmission; displacement is up from 1.5l in the 2nd-gen smodel to 1.8l here, and the 2ZR-FXE 16-valve twin cam (with VVT-I) engine puts out 98bhp at 5,200rpm and 142Nm at 4,000rpm.

It’s the first Toyota engine to have its water pump powered by an electric motor, thereby eliminating the need for a fanbelt.

As for the battery/motor system, this is made up of a 168-cell, 28 module sealed Ni-MH battery pack and a 650V 3JM permanent-magnet synchronous motor which develops 80bhp and 207Nm (offering 546Nm in a boosted state). Working in tandem with the engine, this translates into a nett maximum power output of 134bhp. Toyota says that this combination offers the equivalent of a 2.4l-class vehicle in terms of acceleration performance.
Among the equipment kit list are a fully keyless smart entry and start system, head-up display, an eight-speaker audio system, seven airbags and a host of electronic driver aids, including Vehicle Stability Control, ABS, EBD, traction control, brake assist and Hill-Start Assist Control .

The car sits on 15-inch alloys (with attendant aerodynamic-enhancing plastic wheel covers) and wears 195/65 series tyres, in this case Japanese-made Goodyear Excellence rubbers, though this is not of a low-rolling resistance type.

You can choose 5 colour for your Prius ie. Silver Metallic, White Pearl CS, Abyss Gray Metallic, Red Mica Metallic and Dark Blue Mica. The interior trim is finished in medium grey universally.

With the new tax structure the Price of Prius is RM175,000 (with insurance) in Peninsular Malaysia and about RM1,400 more in East Malaysia.

During my visit to Mutiara Motor recently, I saw a 2004 Prius with a price tag RM140k (nego), I guess with the launching of new Prius, that 2004 model can get below 130k. Sound reasonable ?

Toyota has lined up five notable debuts for this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, led by a first appearance in the UK for the Lexus LF-A supercar.

Gazoo Racing’s V10-powered LF-A will be one of the main new attractions on the hill climb course, coming to Goodwood after successfully completing the Nürburgring 24-hour race as part of its continuing development program. It will be joined by another competition Lexus, the racing IS F which also took part in the 24-hour event.

Panasonic Toyota Racing will be back at Goodwood, ready to stir the crowds with a supreme display of F1 speed and technology. Timo Glock, one of grand prix racing’s fast-rising stars, will be on hand to drive the TF108, the last F1 Toyota to be designed before the sport introduced its current restrictions on wing sizes and additional aerodynamic elements.

Modellista, the Toyota’s in-house tuner has unveiled their Aero Tourer Kits for the third generation 2010 Toyota Prius.

The first is called Aero Tourer S and the other 2 called Modellista Ver. 1 and Ver. 2 The Aero Tourer is the sportiest of the trio. The Aero Tourer S Kit upgrades including a new front bumper, grille, front and side skirts, a new rear bumper, a lip spoiler and set of new alloy wheels available in two different designs.

This aero kits eventhough not as aggressive as the Mugen Honda Insight, but will give better look to this hybrid car and of course will attract younger generation

Important note that the fan to remember is, this kit only made available for Japanese Domestic Market. JDM rulezz.

Scion, of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., has announced  that the only limited-production tC for 2009, the tC Release Series 5.0 (tC RS 5.0), will have a Toyota Racing Development (TRD) theme and be available at dealer showrooms in March. The 2009 tC RS 5.0 will be on display in the Scion space at the Chicago Auto Show, February 11-22, for media and public days.

The  2009 tC RS 5.0 features gloss black exterior paint and numerous performance products from TRD. TRD edition 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, in matte black with red trim, and red TRD lowering springs provide this tC with its menacing presence. For additional stability when cornering, the tC is fitted with a red TRD rear sway bar. A TRD sport muffler gives the tC RS 5.0 an aggressive sound signature, while a TRD exterior badge marks the car. A black rear lip spoiler will also be available.

The TRD theme is continued inside with a black leather steering wheel featuring red stitching, blacck seats with red accents and floor mats with the TRD logo. The tC RS 5.0 is also equipped with a cargo mat. Individually numbered badging completes the uniqueness of this vehicle.

Only 2,000 units of the tC Release Series 5.0 will be built. The base MSRP for the standard tC with a manual transmission is $17,000, while the standard tC with an automatic transmission model carries a MSRP of $17,800.
