As usual many participant of the Tokyo Motor Show 2009 has started to unveil the line up for this coming motor show at Makuhari Messe, Chiba City.

The Subaru Impreza WRX STI Carbon is based on the A-Line model equipped with the 5-speed automatic transmission and comes with a carbon fiber roof that lowers the weight of the car and it’s center of gravity. The interior of the Subaru Impreza WRX STI Carbon is covered in suede.

Subaru Japan has introduced The Subaru Impreza WRX STI spec C in their market. Considered as a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) version this Spec C will be powered by the 2.0-liter Horizontally-Opposed 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve turbocharged engine that develops 227kW (308 PS) at 6,400 rpm and 422 Nm (43.0 kgf·m) of torque at 4,400 rpm.

Two exclusive exterior colors are available; Sunrise Yellow and Pure White and will made available only 900 units.

Enhancement of Chassis performance:

• Reinforcement of the cross member in front-suspensions offers a linear steering response.
• Specification changes in damping force of suspensions, coil spring rate, rear stabilizer and rear sub-frame bushes optimize rigidity for body roll and retain excellent road-holding capability.
• Rear LSD (Limited Slip Differential) system was changed to a mechanical type from a Torsen type to obtain the steady and powerful traction during cornering.
• Bridgestone “POTENZA RE070” (245/40R18) were adopted to enhance cornering ability and higher grip performance, especially in dry conditions.
• Nimble handling with a firm steering feel is assured by increasing oil flow volume in the power steering system.

Subaru has unveiled the 2009 Subaru Legacy Concept  at 2009 North American International Show, Detroit in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Legacy.  This concept car is expected to enter US market early next year.

Not much details given the car spec, but the engineers at Subaru has done nice and good job on this Legacy.

Too sad to be true, but next year no more Subaru in WRC. Eventhough a reason given due to economic slowdown but many also believe this decision was made due to they can’t compete with the other car maker. Anyway, whatever reason, we must respect it and I believe many more will follow.

Tokyo, December 16, 2008 – Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, today announced the withdrawal from the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) at the end of the 2008 season.

FHI has participated in the WRC together with Prodrive, a motorsports and automotive engineering group in the UK, over the past 19 years to pursue its goal and philosophy in motor sports activities to enhance Subaru brand awareness by showing that Subaru vehicles offer safe, comfortable and pleasurable driving no matter the weather or road conditions, featuring Horizontally-Opposed engine and the Symmetrical All-Wheel drive system as its core technologies, and to transfer results of race-tested technical improvements into Subaru passenger vehicles.

The production version of the Subaru Exiga concept was first presented at the 40th Tokyo Motor Show 2008. The 7-seater Subaru Exiga will be offered in four models: 2.0i, 2.0i-L, 2.0i-S and 2.0GT with two different engines as follows :

* Subaru Exiga 2.0i, 2.0i-L, 2.0i-S : 2.0-liter DOHC engine, 148 PS at 6,000 rpm and 191 Nm of torque at 3,200 rpm.
* Subaru Exiga GT : 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve, intercooled, turbocharged, Horizontally-Opposed, 4-cylinder, gasoline engine 225 PS at 5,600 rpm and 326 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm.
