Lexus IS-F police car

Lexus-IS-F-police-car-2

If you think our PDRM’s Evo X is fast enough or one of the sophisticated police car, you should see what Humberside Police has in their garage. They just received a 5.0l V8 Lexus IS-F !The delivery of IS-F is in order to make life more difficult than ever for those looking to travel to the region to commit crime.

Specially trained officers spent 12 months evaluating a number of high performance vehicles that are set to replace the current Subarus which have proved highly successful in enabling the Roads Crime Section to target organized criminals in the area. Following a stringent evaluation process the decision was taken to purchase the Lexus IS-F after the vehicle proved to be exceptionally capable of remaining stable in high speed operational policing environments, despite carrying the extra weight provided by the £30,000 worth of on-board computers and communications equipment.

Sergeant Mike Peck of the Humberside Police Roads Crime Section said: “The purchase of the vehicle was far from an easy decision and involved research and advice from the force fleet manager, finaancial managers and a vehicle dynamics expert. The Lexus was tested during a 12 month period along with similar vehicles and proved itself to be ideally suited in providing a dynamically safe high performance chassis along with an electronically stable platform for the computer equipment. In the past this equipment has placed huge demands on vehicles but the Lexus IS-F easily met with our requirements. The final product provides a most formidable package and is undoubtedly one of the most advanced police vehicles in the world which in turn enables my officers to deal with the criminals who use the roads for serious and organized crime.”

The Lexus IS-F has a performance tuned 5.0-litre V8 engine capable of reaching 62mph in 4.8 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 168 mph and was supplied by Steve Kelly, Centre Principal at Lexus Hull who has been working closely with the Humberside police regarding the sale.

Lexus LF A comes back to Nurburgring 24 hour

lexus
Lexus will enter two LF-A sportscar prototypes in the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race on 23-24 May, 2009.

The entry of the two-seater sportscar, which is powered by a 5.0-litre, V10 producing more than 500PS, forms part of an on-going R&D process. As in 2008, Lexus engineers will use the grueling race at the infamous German track to gather technical data that will be applied to future mass-production of vehicles. The company will also use the event as an opportunity to develop human resources by giving young mechanics the chance to work as support staff.

The cars are prototypes of the LF-A, which is currently being developed with an eye on commercialization. Modifications for the race include safety equipment (roll cage, fuel tank, etc.), as well as a spoiler and other aerodynamic features. The development team has improved the LF-A’s performance with fine-tuning based on experience gained in last year’s, race while specifications for the engine, powertrain, and body structure remain largely unchanged.

Lexus has a strong track record in endurance racing in the US and Japan. Past successes include powering the winners of the legendary Daytona 24 Hours in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and winning the GrandAm championship (Grand American Rolex Series) with a record number of wins; and claiming the Super GT title in 2006 with the Lexus SC 430.

Lexus IS250 Sports Concept

lexus-is250-sports-concept-3.jpg

Lexus Australia has recently previewed a sports-inspired IS250 at the 2008 Australian International Motor Show.   Based on the popular IS250, the Sports Concept features a number of performance and visual enhancements designed to enhance the driving experience of the IS range.

Enhancements include brakes, shock absorbers, sway bars, chassis braces, air intake, clutch, short shift kit, exhaust, 19-inch wheels, engine cover and spoilers.  Each component has been designed and tested to strict Lexus standards and provides a quantifiable benefit to the vehicles’ handling, performance or visual appeal.

The Sports Concept’s braking package is designed to increase stopping power and reduce fade. It features six-piston callipers at the front and four-piston at rear. The larger cross-drilled, two-piece brake rotors at front and rear assist with reducing vehicle weight and aid in retardation performance.

The IS Sports Concept is also fitted with co-developed Bilstein shock absorbers and springs, which deliver a firmer ride, increased stability for track use and reduced body roll – resulting in increased handling.

Body roll and chassis flex is further reduced with the adoption of sway bars and a chassis brace – increasing overall cornering performance, stability and rigidity.

Under the bonnet, the IS250 receives a performance air intake, resulting in a three per cent power increase and a carbon-fiber engine cover.  Vehicles with manual transmissions also receive a short shift kit, resulting in a 35 per cent reduction in fore and aft gearshift movement

A performance clutch delivers a 16 per cent increase in clamping force, delivering a sportier pedal feel and increased power delivery. The Sports Concept has a stainless steel “cat-back” exhaust system, delivering a deeper, richer exhaust note and a power increase of 1.5 per cent.

To top it all off, the Sports Concept also features front and rear lip spoilers and striking lightweight graphite gray, 10-spoke, 19-inch forged aluminum wheels. Lexus chief executive John Roca said the performance accessories fitted to IS250 Sports Concept were currently under consideration for Australia. “The introduction of the IS250 Sports Concept is still in preliminary stages but it’s something we definitely want to investigate,” Mr Roca said.

Lexus IS300 powered by 2JZ-GTE

The Lexus IS300 featured here is another great modification by the western on the IS300 or also known Toyota Altezza in Japanese Domestic Market (JDM). Eventhough, the factory setting 2jZ-GE engine is good enough in term of power, but many of the IS300 enthusiasts choose the 2JZ-GTE taken from Toyota Supra simply because of the possible engine swap with minor mod.

If you thing that the swap is easy, you are definitely wrong, nothing bolts in and fits, some of the things need to undergo major mod.

Not to mention that all IS300 comes with auto tranny !

The engine swap also maybe very much related to the famous legendary rear wheel drive AE86. What do you think of this Toyota monster.
